Verizon to boost Apples market share with 912 million iPhone 4 sales

first_imgWe have been covering plenty of news recently relating to Verizon’s announcement that the iPhone 4 will be available on its network, (in fact they are announcing the official release date at a press event tomorrow), but the launch of such a venture is likely to gain Apple millions of extra customers. In fact, rumors suggest that the figure will be close to 9-12 million (or even more) iPhones sold on Verizon, though compare this to AT&T who sold 11.1 million iPhone devices from Jan-Sept 2010, and this figure is likely to reach 14.5 million by the year end totals. AT&T will not be worried too much, but this news will certainly help push Apple back to the forefront, especially as the might of Google’s Android has been taking a big slice of the action recently with the release of the Nexus S and other HTC devices.AdChoices广告Which ever way you look at it the biggest winner will be the average consumer who has been tied down to AT&T since the iPhone was released. Verizon’s entry into the Apple market should also help bring down contracts in the long run, though as John reported the other day  the contracts are looking to be $5 a month extra on Verizon, but unlimited data is far more an attractive proposition over AT&T’s capped 2GB rate.Read more at The Wall Street Journallast_img
