Province Offers Congratulations to Local Filmmaker

first_imgEconomic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris offered congratulations today, July 20, to Halifax-based filmmaker Andrea Dorfman on her nomination for an Emmy Award. “This is a tremendous accomplishment by a talented and determined filmmaker,” said Mr. Paris. “Andrea’s work is a testament to the talent here in Nova Scotia and I will be cheering for her during the awards ceremony.” Ms. Dorfman’s film Flawed is nominated for a news and documentary Emmy Award in the New Approaches to News and Documentary Programming: Documentaries category. Flawed is the intensely personal story of a blossoming romance, questions about attraction, and whether a girl can accept herself — imperfections and all. Ms. Dorfman has made numerous short experimental and dramatic films, two feature films and a full-length documentary. She teaches at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and is the co-creator of Blowhard, a thematic storytelling series in Halifax.
