Sliabh Liag tourism project to officially open on Monday

first_imgThe official opening of the Sliabh Liag Strategic Development Project will take place on Monday.Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh and Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Seamus Ó Domhnaill. are set to open one of the county’s anticipated tourism projects.The project will be officially open at 3pm. The opening of the visitor’s centre last month was aimed at attracting more people to the famous sea cliffs, where tourism has blossomed in recent years.Over 164,000 tourists visited the cliffs in 2017.Last month, Sliabh Liag Distillers in Ardara is to submit a planning application to build a new €6 million distillery, which would bring Irish whiskey production back to the county for the first time in 177 years.Sliabh Liag, which produces An Dúlamán Irish Maritime Gin and The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey, submit the application to Donegal County Council today.
