Electric Forest Starts Unveiling 2018 Lineup With Crazy Puzzles At Pop-Up Concert

first_imgElectric Forest has become one of the most innovative music festivals of our time. In the past, the festival has announced its highly anticipated lineup in non-traditional formats, like in 2016, when they mailed out envelopes with names of artists to select fans and let social media do the rest. After expanding to two weekends last year (which demanded a more traditional announcement), Electric Forest is back with another unorthodox lineup announcement for 2018.Electric Forest’s New ‘Wish Machine’ Can Grant Your Festival “Wish” In Exchange For Charity WorkAs detailed by a Reddit thread, on Sunday night, Ann Arbor, Michigan’s Club Necto hosted a special pop-up event put on by the Electric Forest folks, which culminated in a performance by Space Jesus. Electric Forest used the event as a means to begin revealing the artists on its 2018 lineup, transforming the club into a puzzle room of sorts. As told by redditor /u/Supersighs, “Throughout the venue there [were] many posters were on the wall saying “Performer” is playing Electric Forest 2018. There was a special bar menu with clues to different acts playing. A little burlesque show that revealed some acts. There was a different number on each Men and Women bathroom mirror that if you called, had an artist saying they’re excited to be playing EF2018. The toilet paper had a word scramble all over it revealing an act. There was also a word search projected on the building also revealing some acts.”The folks over at Reddit have been keeping tabs on the artist revealed at last night’s pop-up show. Here’s their list of artists confirmed for Electric Forest 2018 (though keep your eyes peeled for more announcements, as there are still upwards of 100 artists left to be announced!):Everyone OrchestraSpag HeddyNonameXavier RuddRufus Du SolKarl Densons Tiny UniverseManic FocusChromeoHayden JamesSodownSunSquabiFruitionClozeeBoogie TLouis the ChildMisterwivesGryffinCookie MonstaG JonesBukuPenguin PrisonYookieEpromJody LitvackSpace Jesus[H/T YourEDM; Photo: Adam Straughn]last_img read more

Dimitar Berbatov’s Premier League predictions including Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd & Liverpool

first_imgArsenal will be without the suspended Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Sheffield United (Picture: Getty)They need to give Sheffield United the award for the team of the season, seriously, they are doing unbelievably. Saying that, I do like Arteta, the football that he preaches and the way he would like to play is good. Although Aubameyang will miss the match they have Lacazette who, for me, is a striker that can score many goals, also if Pepe is on form as well then he can be very important. I would like to say I’ll go for a surprise here but I think Arsenal will have too much for Sheffield at the Emirates.Dimitar’s prediction: 2-0Brighton vs Aston VillaAston Villa are coming into this game on the back of a heavy defeat to Man City, as a player when you lose with a bad result you think to yourself ‘f***, I’m f***.’ But look at Southampton, they lost 9-0 at home but they have picked themselves up and they are doing really well now. However, I think Brighton will nick this one.Dimitar’s prediction: 2-1Man City vs Crystal Palace Comment It’s a huge weekend of Premier League action (Pictures: REX/METRO.CO.UK)It’s a huge weekend of Premier League action but you don’t need to look too hard to pick out the star attraction.Liverpool really are in with a decent shout of ending the season unbeaten and emulating Arsenal’s Invincibles, but Manchester United perhaps represent a sterner test than Jurgen Klopp’s side are anticipating.Speaking of the Gunners, for all of their obvious improvement, they could really do with a win against this season’s surprise package Sheffield United, or their hopes of catching Chelsea, who visit Newcastle on Saturday, will be over for good.At the bottom meanwhile, there’s a huge game at Carrow Road between Norwich and confidence-sapped Bournemouth and Betfair Ambassador Dimitar Bebatov previews the action exclusively for…AdvertisementAdvertisementADVERTISEMENTWatford vs TottenhamWatford are flying at the moment under Nigel Pearson and I’m a big fan of Troy Deeney as well. It’s going to be a difficult game for Spurs, especially away from home. So for this one I’m going to go for the draw.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-1Arsenal vs Sheff United Advertisement Joelinton finally scored his first goal at St James’ Park in midweek for Newastle (Picture: Getty)Newcastle is a tough place to go, believe me. I like that Lampard is giving young players the change to play and it will no doubt help them in the long term. Chelsea look to be turning round their form and I think they will get the result at St James’ Park.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-3Burnley vs LeicesterLeicester will still feel a little frustrated by VAR last time out against Southampton, but they have to get over that now and regroup. They have been excellent this season and they have to keep getting the results to get that top four spot which they deserve at the moment. Burnley look as though they could be in a bit of trouble, so I expect Leicester to take all three points on Sunday.Dimitar’s prediction: 0-2Liverpool vs Man United Sergio Aguero was back in the goals for Man City last weekend (Picture: Getty)Although this looks a pretty obvious one, Crystal Palace won this fixture last season at the Etihad and I’m sure this will be on City’s mind and they will prepare for it. Crystal Palace must exploit the space that City leave in defence but I think for this one I am going to go for City, especially if Kevin De Bruyne is playing, he is in the form of his life.Dimitar’s prediction: 3-1Norwich vs BournemouthI probably won’t watch this one, I’ll be honest… I feel a bit sorry for Eddie Howe, every coach and team goes through a bad patch every now and then, but that doesn’t mean they are a bad coach. I like him and he’s been a Bournemouth for a while and built them up, I’d like to see him stay there. I believe he will turn it around starting this weekend.Dimitar’s prediction: 0-1Southampton vs Wolves Dimitar BerbatovFriday 17 Jan 2020 10:00 pmShare this article via facebookShare this article via twitterShare this article via messengerShare this with Share this article via emailShare this article via flipboardCopy link3.6kShares Advertisement Marcus Rashford is an injury doubt four Man Utd’s match at Liverpool on Sunday (Picture: Getty)Obviously, I would like Man United to be the team to stop Liverpool’s unbeaten run, I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels like that. But, Liverpool are too good at the moment and although it pains me to say it, they will probably get the result on Sunday, especially if Rashford isn’t playing, which will put more pressure on the team and weaken United upfront.AdvertisementDimitar’s prediction: 1-0MORE: Jamie Carragher makes Liverpool vs Manchester United predictionMORE: Gary Neville sends warning to new Manchester United captain Harry Maguire Danny Ings is enjoying a remarkable run of goalscoring form (Picture: Getty)I’d like to see Southampton continue the way they are going at the minute, they are in great form and Danny Ings is on fire when it comes to scoring goals. I do like Wolves though, and I think they are also doing a great job, especially with all the fixtures they have had to play.AdvertisementAdvertisementDimitar’s prediction: 1-1West Ham vs EvertonDavid Moyes is coming up against his old club and Ancelotti for this one. He obviously some bad luck and results at Man United, but for West Ham to come back to him they are going back to something familiar, and maybe they didn’t want to risk something new. I wish him and West Ham luck, they are a big team that can beat every team but they can also lose to every team as well.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-2Newcastle vs Chelsea Dimitar Berbatov’s Premier League predictions including Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd & Liverpoollast_img read more

Men’s basketball: UW moves up in rankings, earns Happ Big Ten Player of the Week

first_imgUniversity of Wisconsin men’s basketball’s sophomore forward Ethan Happ was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday for the second straight time for his effort in wins against Penn State and Rutgers. The Illinois native has quickly asserted himself as one of the most consistent scorers in Madison and the Big Ten, notching more than half the team’s points in an overtime win against the Scarlet Knights Saturday.Despite the slump in play by the now No. 10 team in the country, Happ has raised his level of play to match the loss in production by some of the more experienced players. Wisconsin was down nine points with less than three minutes to go against Rutgers, leaning on Happ to will them to victory and score the game tying bucket at the end of regulation to send the match into extra time.Marissa Haegele/The Badger HeraldMen’s basketball: Happ’s 32 points salvage Badgers at Madison Square GardenThe University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team returned to Madison after an overtime thriller Saturday at Madison Square Garden in Read…With the 46 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals, four assists and two blocks this past week, the sophomore is now the first player to win the award of Big Ten Player of the Week consecutively since 2005. What was almost more crucial than the sheer stat totals was Happ’s leadership in the closing moments to save the day and keep the Badgers at first in the Big Ten.Unlike Happ, seniors Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes had disappointing showings this past week, and it was apparent on the stat sheet. Against Rutgers, Koenig shot 2-13 from the field while Hayes went 2-7. Vitto Brown continued his shooting slump, posting a 0-8 shooting performance and three turnovers. While Happ’s dominant couple of weeks were a positive in that Wisconsin came away with wins, the style of play isn’t sustainable and will have to change if the team wants to stay in the top 10.last_img read more

Philip Bowcock: William Hill – Nominal response on responsibility has hurt industry’s profile

first_img David Lampitt, Sportradar: F1 presents betting’s most sizeable opportunity August 14, 2020 Share Share Related Articles William Hill accelerates transformation agenda to overcome COVID realities August 5, 2020 Submit SBC Magazine Issue 10: Kaizen Gaming rebrand and focus for William Hill CEO August 25, 2020 StumbleUpon Operators who have only donated nominal amounts to GambleAware for research, education and treatment would have been better not bothering, according to William Hill Group CEO Philp Bowcock. Speaking at World GES in Barcelona, Bowcock touched on this week’s announcement from the UK’s biggest operators to increase the amount of money they provide to GambleAware by a factor of ten, but also referenced Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson’s criticisms of those operators who are only providing small amounts. He said: “There are a lot of organisations out there who are not doing anything and that really does not help our industry at all. But you are better off not putting anything in at all rather than giving £1 or £5. “Our idea with this week’s announcement is to get on the front foot on the issue.” Bowcock suggested that UK gambling laws had been ‘too libertarian’ and now the pendulum was swinging back the other way as more restrictions come in, such as the reduction in stakes for FOBTs.Bowcock also underlined the grim outlook for UK retail on the back of those restrictions. “There’s no doubt there will be significant closures of shops across the industry and it will be in four figures.”However, William Hill’s leader underlines that there is still a future for betting shops, even as customers continue their digital migration. “Retail will always be there. There is a social element to retail that you don’t get anywhere else. In the US retail is a real social event. People like to go and watch games together. It’s the same in the UK to an extent.”William Hill has been one of the more successful European brands in the US market deregulation of betting, but Bowcock warned that it ‘will be a marathon not a sprint’ in the country. He highlighted the need for a ‘largely American’ operational team and added the more proprietary technology that a company has, the better. The need for diversification from the UK market is still high on Bowcock’s agenda, with last year’s purchase of Mr Green giving the firm an enhanced footprint in Scandinavia. “M&A has to be on the radar and it has to be on the radar for many organisations,” he said, suggesting that technology has to be an element of that activity. He also cited Latin America as an interesting market for potential growth.__________last_img read more
